IIITD Vs IIITB

There are many top engineering colleges in India but I am going to discuss here only about IIIT Delhi and IIIT Bangalore. Most of the students have doubt which college to choose IIITD or IIITB. If you have an admission offer from any-one or both the colleges just grab that offer, you are not going to regret. Students should prefer IIITD or IIITB or IIITH over DTU, NSIT etc for post graduation in CSE. I will going to discuss following points for both colleges:

Admission Process

International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore(IIITB) takes admission for masters based on their GATE score and rank. I secured 669 marks and 987 rank in GATE'17 CS and got selected in first shortlist. Through this I concluded one might get admission in IIITB if they secured near to 1200 rank in GATE and 100% sure if candidate have rank less than 1K.
Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi(IIITD) takes admission for masters based on their GATE score and interview. But in 2018, students are shortlisted on the basis of GATE rank and non-GATE students are admitted through interview. May be now onward IIITD only takes admission on the basis of GATE score.

Infrastructure

IIITB is very beautiful campus spread over 10 acres and fully covered with greenery. Aryabhatta and Ramanujan block are the academic buildings of this college. click here for IIITB insights.
IIITD spread over 25 acre. There are 10 buildings, some beautiful parks & gardens. Buildings with their names and interior can be viewed over here(I will release soon, may be in the last week of this month).

Academics

In IIITB, students are graded on the scale of 0 to 4 CGPA. Students have a choice over what the subjects they have to study during semester except first semester. It is mandatory for every student to live in a hostel, if you are getting admission in IIITB which make cost to nearly ₹7-8 Lakh for complete M.Tech program (according to 2017-2019 batch). It is mandatory for every final year student to go for an internship in their fourth/last semester. During internship every company offer at least ₹25K to interns. There is less exposer to research field, all the courses are managed/arranged in such a way that they give you industry exposure.
Whereas in IIITD, students are allowed to choose subjects according to their interest with some mandatory courses required for completing masters. Students are graded on a scale of 0 to 10 CGPA and student need to maintain at least CGPA 6 for completion of the program. If you have a strong interest in data science then IIITD is the best place for you. Students got assignments with a deadline which make students to grasp course not only theoretically but also practically and prepare students how to handle industry pressure. In academics mostly python is preferred over other languages. For completion of course, the student can opt for scholarly article, capstone, thesis and industrial project. Till now (i.e. for 2019 batch pass out) internship is allowed from some authorized companies but now onward if any company offers internship then they have to open source there code on which intern have done work.

Placement

You can find placement report on website of both the institutes. Here, I just cover overview and some insights which are not present over their website.

IIITB was established on September 1995 and have a strong alumni base. This college have good placement record as compared to many IIT's (keeping in mind comparison is only for masters and computer science students). Rubrik, Microsoft, GoldMan Sachs and Morgan Stanley are the highest package offerer in this college. For 2017-2019 batch highest package offered is 58 LPA in India. Cisco, Tesco and Qualcomm are the mass recruiters where Cisco recruits maximum number of students. 15-16 LPA is an average package here with 8-9 LPA minimum package. Aganitha, Daimler and Huawai are the companies which offer data science profile.

IIITD was established in 2008 because of which IIITD have weaker alumni network as compared to IIITB but if any company starts visiting campus for placement then that company comes regularly every year. Qualcomm and Dell are the mass recruiters for masters with A+ package (i.e. more than 10L package per annum). Microsoft, Directi and Amazon are the highest package offerers. Every year atleast 20 companies visit with package >10L and 80-90% of the students got placed in this category, it doesn't mean rest of the students remain unplaced or not got offer in A+ category due to lack of opportunities instead some students are happy with A category offer and they don't want to switch in A+ category either because of profile or location. Most of the companies offer software development profile and few companies offer Data Science profile even less than 10. Highest package offered by Jio in data science category. Any companies visits for both bachelors and masters offer package to masters either equal to or greater than bachelors.

Conclusions

This conclusion is just my view over IIITD and IIITB. If you are job oriented then join IIITB and if you want to give try in research field then join IIITD as Bangalore is the main hub for many IT industries hence all those companies located in Bangalore visit IIITD also visits IIITB but vice-versa is not true. In term of location choose according to your distance from college whoever is closer to you join that. Believe me you are not going to regret whether you join IIITD or IIITB, it is up to you what you want to choose according to your convenience. If you want to learn new things and interested in learning according to your area of interest then IIITD is your place. Moreover, if you are gate qualifier then you are eligible for opting stipend given by AICTE whereas only top 50 students are eligible in IIITB for the stipend. Moreover, the fees structure of IIITB is higher then IIITD. You will get placement from both colleges but IIITB does not put any restriction over off-campus placement whereas IIITD does. In IIITD, if any company offered A+ package then it is mandatory for you to join that.
Note : Due to time boundation, I am not able to add pics of infrastructure but definately will add till last week of this month i.e April'19. In addition to this, I just get to know that Data Science is also good in IIITB. So Data Science you can study in both colleges but I will prefer IIITD for it.

Refresher Module IIITD

Academic Building Congratulations! as you are searching for this blog it shows that either you have taken admission or thinking to take in IIITD. If you are in either(just mentioned above) condition shows that you have not only qualified GATE but also secured good rank.  Hi guys I am in a similar situation in which you are when I joined IIITD. I have taken admission as MTech student in CSE branch. At that time even, I have searched a lot but not found exactly what is Refresher Course?( other than this  click here ) In this blog, I try to give glimpse whatever you are going to cover during Refresher Module. Key Points:       1.       What are the courses/module you are going to study?       2.       What are the topics going to be cover in each course/module?       3.       About Labs and Assignment       4.   ...

MBA VS MTech

There are lot of questions arises when you are in your final year like what to do after B.Tech: Job or Higher Studies? If Higher Studies, then from where abroad or with in native country? Apart from these questions biggest question stuck in our mind MBA or MTech/ME?   Exams : India: o    GATE : Exam for M.Tech o    CAT    : Exam for MBA Abroad: o    GRE     : Especially to get Admission in MS but some colleges/universities allow for MBA too. o    GMAT :  Exam for MBA Is M.Tech and B.Tech same? You heard from many there is no difference between MTech and Btech. "All MTech and BTech students sits in same class to study" this statement is totally correct. So, now question arises why should I pursue MTech? M.Tech is not for those who have done their B.Tech from elite5 , tier1 or tier2 engineering colleges in India. Therefore, if you are really interested in doing M.Tech and belongs...
